Overview

This Harley Davidson Knucklehead motorcycle is Titled as a 1946 FL in California. The Engine number is 46 FL and the belly numbers match 46 -27** This bike was purchased in 1997 in the Los Angeles area by the current owner’s husband. He purchased this bike as an investment and rode it occasionally to keep it fresh. They own a couple of other Harleys that took up most of the riding time and mileage. This 1946 Knucklehead appears to be an original engine in a 49/50 frame. The sheet metal is all original Harley and in great shape. The husband got sick a couple of years back and the bike sat in a corner of the garage for the past 3 years. It is photographed as is from the corner in the garage.

It is time for a new caretaker for this wonderful motorcycle.

Mileage

0745 showing on the odometer. Unknown if working or not, possibly reset at the build.

Paint

The paint is from an early restoration in the 90’s and shows good application, quality product. Minimal scratches and no visible flaking. It should clean and polish right up.

Sheet Metal

Sheet metal is in excellent condition and well fit. No sign of any repairs made or needed. No dings or dents found. All sheet metal appears to be original Harley. Gas tanks appear to be clean and sound. Tanks are 50 – 53, the fenders appear to be 47/48.

Chrome

Most chrome on this motorcycle appears to be original and in good condition. A quick application of Never Dull may assist with the surface pitting. There is a lot of chrome on this bike which is typical for a SoCal restoration/build from the 90’s. It is destined to be a sparkler!

Mechanical

This motorcycle was in excellent mechanical condition when parked because of the illness. It was not the primary ride for the owner and has minimal mileage. It has compression and it shifts through the gears. It is not currently running and needs a service. Transmission shifts through the gears and the bike rolls smoothly. All indicators are that it ran well when parked.

Wheels & Tires

Rims are chromed steel with chromed spokes and nipples. Serviceable but could use rebuild and new chrome. Front Tire is Metzler 130/90 - 16 date coded out, probably serviceable. Rear Tire is Metzler 130/90 - 16 date coded out, probably serviceable.
