Overview

The current owner purchased this bike in 1999 to start his vintage Harley collection. Due to a knee injury, he parked the bike and displayed it for the last 18 years. It was built by the previous owner to be a rider, but it has only been ridden less than 100 miles since its frame-up restoration in Colorado. It is now ready to ride again, having been tuned and freshened in June 2017 by one of the most trusted Harley mechanics in the Midwest.

There were several after-market parts used in the restoration, including the fuel tanks, tank emblems, chrome dash, seat, saddlebags, S&S oil pump, Cycle Electric generator/regulator, stainless steel spokes, inner primary, coil, clutch plates, brake shoes, “cheese grater” rear fender trim, tires, and probably the wiring harness. All of these parts are of the highest quality. All other parts are believed to be stock (although refinished), including the frame, cases, cylinders, heads, chrome pan valve covers (1948 was the only year), transmission, springer fork (1948 was the last year), carb, speedometer, and fenders. Of course, collectors know that the first year Panhead is one of the rarest and most beautiful Harleys ever made. A true jewel of American post-WWII design, technology, style, and pride.

Mileage

Less than 100 miles (after frame-up restoration) on a working odometer.

Paint

Painted in 1999 during the restoration by a professional painter using the great product and correct color. There are very few patina marks, small chips, or stains in the current status.

Sheet Metal

Sheet metal is excellent and well fit. Fuel tanks are correct reproduction, as is the chrome dash. No known dings or dents.

Chrome

Excellent, replated during the restoration by a quality company

Mechanical

This motorcycle is in excellent mechanical condition with a new motor by Mike Maxwell, Colorado Springs, CO in 1999. The bike was tuned and freshened in 2017 with new hoses, transmission seals, battery, carb cleaning, spark plugs, clutch plates, and new petroleum oil by Ron Ives Performance Service (RIPS), in Altoona, WI. This bike is ready for the road or display.
