This is a restored 1959 Harley Davidson FL Duo Glide. The restoration of this motorcycle was started in 1994 and completed in 2000. The bike was ridden and shown by the restorer for many years with excellent results. No known information on the miles on the bike since restoration but it is believed to be minimal. The bike has been stored indoors in Chico CA in a garage during use. This bike was a “great runner when parked” which was in 2018. It was then put into a storage locker until February of 2020. The bike has a clear California title and current registration (non-op).
A recent review of the motorcycle by knowledgeable people indicates that this is mostly all original parts and that the bike paint and cosmetic restoration was very nicely done. The bike has been serviced, March 2015, 2020 and is running smoothly.
This Mighty Fine 59 Harley Davidson Sport Solo is one of 1,222 of this Model, and even fewer with the Chrome package shown and the Buckhorn bars.
Mileage
Mileage unknown. Only 200 shows on the odometer but the numbers on the speedometer are fading. Unknown if its an original speedo that was reset.
Paint
This bike was repainted during the restoration. Excellent paint and paint prep. No scratches noted and the paint will shine right up with proper care.
Sheet Metal
Sheet metal is in excellent condition and well fit. No sign of any repairs made or needed. No dings or dents found. Close inspection reveals that most parts are original to the bike and year. It is noted that there is a plate welded into the neck on the right side. Check the pictures closely.
Chrome
Most chrome was redone during the restoration and is excellent quality and in good condition. Some surface rust noted which should shine right up with Never Dull. The bike is in need of a good detail to be a show winner!
Mechanical
This motorcycle was in Excellent mechanical condition when parked in a storage locker in 2018. It has good compression and was running when parked. Should be a first kick machine if you know the drill. The bike was just serviced (March 15, 2020) Service included carb removal and cleaning, New 12-volt battery, coil, and condenser. Fluids serviced including new oil and brake fluid, gas tank flushed.
Wheels & Tires
Rims are chromed steel with chromed spokes and nipples.
Front Tire is Coker: 500 X 16 Wide Whitewall, date coded out, serviceable.
Rear Tire is Coker: 500 X 16 Wide Whitewall, date coded out, serviceable.
