Overview

This Harley Davidson 1970 XR 750 motorcycle is a rare and desirable, race-ready motorcycle. There were 200 bikes built by the factory in 1970 and 100 were cut up by the factory. This 1970 XR 750 is one of the 100 that survived the factory and one of the possibly 60 left in existence according to the literature. This Harley Davidson XR 750 engine was found in a barn find situation many years ago in Southern California. The engine was sent to and completely rebuilt by Carl Patrick a well-known race engine builder for today’s current champions. The engine was mated with a factory rolling chassis provided by High Speed Motors run by John Steele, the noted 750 XR specialist in the world. (Ohio). Final assembly was completed by a shop in So California. This 750 XR is now presented as it would have been purchased from the factory.  This machine had not been started or run in since the build. In order to prove its worth the motorcycle was placed on a dyno and the engine started. This work was accomplished by a custom Harley shop in Costa Mesa CA. The mechanic in charge made sure that all lube was correct and the engine correctly serviced before placement on the dyno. The gas tanks were so clean that an external gas supply was attached direct to the carb. Check the video, this monster started right up. The mechanic exclaimed later that the engine and carb was so correctly set up that no carb adjustments were necessary.  A real testament to the quality of the build! This engine is now ready for a correct break-in miles. An original Goodyear tire was acquired for the rear to complete the build and it is roadworthy. Seller would suggest using modern tires for the break-in period to preserve the original rubber currently on the bike.
