1984 Harley Davidson FLHX Shovelhead Electra Glide Special Edition – Restored from the Ground Up

GREAT COLLECTOR’S BIKE!

Story/History as Told by the Seller/Rebuilder/Restorer…

I have been a Harley-Davidson ENTHUSIAST since I was 13 years old, which is a long time ago. I have been fortunate enough to buy, sell, trade…. but mainly OWN…. many H-D Motorcycles in my lifetime. As with life’s realities, I have greatly streamlined the number of bikes and thousands of associated parts that once filled my shop. I am now down to just 3 Harleys, with my 1984 FLHX being one of them. I have decided to keep 2 bikes… one for my son and one for myself. Although I greatly MISS many of my older Harleys, it is kind of nice to obtain free space and free time from having to maintain those machines. I do however still OWN the many great memories that these bikes provided me! Once I have sold my FLHX I figure I will have much more time to ride the ones that will remain and hopefully do that with my son alongside.

My particular bike is like many… a LONG story. The shortest version is that back in 1984 when the H-D MoCo was beginning their release of new Evo powered motorcycles they had sent out letters to owners of previous newly purchased H-D Motorcycles, informing us that they had planned a final production run of the ShovelHead Electra-Glide FLH model (rigid mount 4-speed). This was titled as a Special Edition FLHX… not to be confused with H-D labeling their (then new) 2006 Street Glide that they ripped off the model name as FLHX.

In the Spring of 1984, I had tried to purchase a new FLHX in Birch White. I had made a cash deal with a dealer to buy one that he had recently received. He backed out the next day when I appeared with cash in hand. I was unable to find or buy another like it.

Accessories

-- Original tires that came on the bike when new, are available if wanted by Buyer. Would be especially beneficial for a Collector or Buyer who wants to show the bike.

-- I do have a complete CD of high definition pics that were taken here in our town. These were shot at what is now a City Park... but when I was a young kid these railroad tracks that my bike was parked on in certain pics were the very tracks that my Grandfather rolled his big steam locomotive on. he was an engineer for the Pennsylvania Railroad!!! The bike pics were shot by a professional photographer that worked for American Iron and American Baggers Magazines. Copy of CD can be included with the bike upon request by Buyer.
