This 1937 Indian Chief was found in a barn in Wisconsin in the summer of 2015. The bike was complete but not running. Robert Castoro purchased the bike and commissioned an engine build, no cosmetic work to be done! Take a good look at the pictures.
It is hypothesized that the farmer that owned it wanted to upgrade the looks, so he built his own fender skirts to update the ride! The generator installed on the bike was on the front side of the seat post and they cut the fins on the back side of the rear cylinder to make it fit. Probably why the engine seized! New rear cylinder appropriated. This engine and power plant is 100 % new on the inside. There are about 100 break-in miles on the bike. When the engine was re-installed many aged-out items were found and corrected so that the bike is now a reliable runner. (This bike was really used up!) That includes welding of the rear frame, all new bearings front and rear, new steering head bearings and a reset of the front fender and other items. None of this work is easily identified. Engine build and chassis rebuild completed by Doug Cameron of Santa Ana California.
Less than 100 miles on the rebuild.
Original farmer paint job…great patina!
Sheet metal is original to the farmer and well fit. Minimal dings or dents.
The power plant on this machine is all new and barely broken in. Receipts of the parts available. Fired right up after a 2-year nap, although it had sumped…listen to the video. CMC put 50 miles break in before delivery to the Castoro collection in 2018 and Robert put on minimal mileage.
