Overview

The John Hoeinghaus Motorcycle Collection has been released for sale by the probate court. The collection includes three Indians and one Harley Davidson.

This collection was owned by the late John Hoeinghaus, affectionately known to his friends and fellow riders as Hobo John.

Hobo John was a long-time member of the SoCal Chapter of the AMCA and a loving figure in the motorcycling culture of Southern California. He is loved and missed by all, and his family would be very happy if his motorcycles moved on to SoCal AMCA members as well as members of the AMCA in general. Take a look at the painting of the tank on the Harley and say “Hi” to Hobo.

Listed below are brief summaries of each bike. Further details and pics can be seen by clicking on the links for each bike.

1931 Indian 101 Scout - Hoeinghaus Collection
1931 Indian 101 Scout

This is a 1931 Indian 101 Scout. The 101 Scout is an icon in the Indian motorcycle world. It was only made for 4 years and the 1931 model is the last of the build. This motorcycle was the most important acquisition of the owner.  The title on this motorcycle states it as a 1931 but the engine  number is a 1930 number. The frame number is not correct in the 101 Indian sequence but is used as the VIN on the California Title. This bike was prepped by John Eagles a few years back and was the last machine that Hobo rode prior to his passing. It was last started in the fall of 2017. It does kick through with compression. This motorcycle is an older restoration from the 80’s. It is rumored to have been from the Bob Ross collection. This is a correctly presented 101 Scout.
