This magnificent 1940 Indian Chief CHP motorcycle took 6.5 years to collect and build. It is a great example of California Highway Patrol (CHP) bikes that were in service in the early 40’s. The police parts were collected over 6 years at various places and they are all original police issue parts. The machine was assembled and built by Bob Stark and it has resided in his museum for many years. It has a clear California title but it is not registered. This machine is a great study in the history of motorcycles in use by police agencies.
900 on this motor and build. Speedometer works and is correct for the year.
Excellent paint that has rarely seen daylight. Correct pd black and white with appropriate decals and striping.
Excellent, original sheet metal.
Bike runs solid and true. It was correctly put together with exacting factory tolerances by Bob Stark. It was built to run and it has been broken in with @900 miles on it. Tires are new and supple Uniroyal 450-18.

Correct CA title, paperwork, never licensed. Correct license plate for the year that may be register able. Correct Indian factory numbers; CDO 2288 Motor; 3403203 Frame.
