This 1948 Indian Chief Roadmaster is being sold by the owner’s estate. The Indian Chief Roadmaster was a top-of-the-line motorcycle in 1948. The owner was an avid rider and he always maintained the bike in top condition and rode it in his home state of Florida. As the owner declined in health, so did the Indian Chief. The bike was put away wet at the end of the owner’s time and it is in need of a complete mechanical review and cleaning. The motorcycle appears to have repainted fenders based on the lack of fender trim. The motorcycle has matching numbers for 1948 and the dash assembly is from 1946/47. There is a clear Florida title on this motorcycle. This Indian Chief currently resides near Dallas Texas.
Miles on the odometer 35,706 (not sure odometer works).
Indian red paint without the trim mold which indicates a repaint. Paint is in need of a good cleaning and polish.
The frame appears to be original paint.
Sheet metal appears to be original with a few dings and a couple of rust spots indicated on the bottom of the fender.
Chrome has surface rust and some pitting.
The mechanical condition of this motorcycle is unknown. “Running when put away”. All indicators are that it is in need of a good service to place it in running condition. Study the pictures and you will see that it is missing the air filter and that all other items are connected and appear to be serviceable. Battery would need replacement. No, it needs a battery...
