This is a rare 1963 Rocket Gold Star Spitfire/Gold Star Spitfire. Based on the BSA dispatch records from two BSA owners clubs in the UK, only 266-272 were built between 1962 and 1963. They were for export only and to date only approximately 40 have been reported to the Gold Star Owners club in the UK as still existing. They are not your standard BSA A10 Spitfire. Unlike those, these use the same frame (GA10) as the Rocket Gold Stars less the pillon (passenger) loops and have Gold Star brakes.
This bike was one of only 16 shipped to Canada. It was sent to Fred Deeley Ltd, Vancouver, on February 28, 1963 and recorded as a “A10 R G Star Scrambler Red”. It is a numbers matching original with a letter verifying the numbers from the Gold Star Owners Club in the UK. The current owner purchased it in Canada in 2009 and finished a total restoration in 2016. It is street legal with original period correct lighting.
This 1963 Rocket Gold Star Spitfire/GoldStar Spitfire won its division at the 2017 Clubman’s All British Motorcycle Show in San Jose CA.
