Offered for sale is this beautiful 1915 Model 11KT Twin Track Racer. At the end of 1914 Harley-Davidson formally entered the world of organized racing by fielding a factory team. While much of the racing of the era was done on Board tracks across the nation, other races took place on half-mile and mile long horse racing tracks from coast to coast. The 1915 National Championship took place July 4th in Dodge City, Kansas on a mile long dirt track. The Harley-Davidson ‘Wrecking crew’ managed to place riders in 6 of 7 top spots all piloting 1915 11K’s.
This machine was painstakingly fabricated from the ground up. The engine, Schebler carburetor, and Bosch magneto was a complete original package purchased from a retired dealer in Southern Wisconsin. The frame was built by Michael Lange and the front fork was sourced from Steve Raffils of Auckland New Zealand. The tanks were reproduced from a NOS example from owners collection.
True to originals this bike has the rear ‘Freewheel’ clutch and brake only found on 1915 models. Original factory photos were used to ensure every detail of the bike is faithful to how an original 1915 11KT would have left the factory.
The bike is finished per original in enamel with the neck transfer applied with copal varnish. The tank logos and pinstriping were hand lettered by Harley-Davidson Chief Stylist Ray Drea. A photo documentation of the entire build is included in the sale.
Motorcycle has competed in the Motorcycle Cannonball in 2010 and 2016, Sons of Speed Racing, and numerous AMCA Flat track Events.
The bike has a clear Wisconsin title and is in perfect running condition.
