This is a factory original 1915 Indian Big Twin that has just undergone an engine tune and drive train review by Steve Huntsinger to make it road worthy for any tour.
This Indian Motorcycle was the centerpiece at the Brookline, Massachusetts Museum of Transportation special exhibition called “Putting America on Wheels” and it was formerly owned by the past president of the AMA, Art Sigal. The motorcycle resided in the museum since the early 1980’s and came to the new owner from the Sigal estate in 2014.
This is a very nice, older restoration 1915 Big Twin 1000cc. This motorcycle is equipped with the very rare, first year electric lighting options which include headlight, taillight, and horn. (Earlier motorcycles have the acetylene gas tanks to power the lights.) Electricity is powered by a mag/generator which is strategically placed in front of the engine!
This 1915 Big Twin also has the correct Corbin 100 mph Speedometer with odometer reset. The 1st year Schebler carb is also on this bike which allows it superb functioning. This Indian Big Twin has just undergone an engine tune and drive train review by Steve Huntsinger to make it road worthy for any tour. This 1915 Indian Big Twin is ready for “Show & Go”!
The bike is equipped with a passenger accessory rack and has the 3-speed transmission. The nickel plating is superb as seen in the photos along with the rare optioned accessories.
The 1915 Big Twin marked the last Indian motorcycle to carry the original Hedstrom F-Head engine and the cradle-spring rear frame. This is an excellent example of the top of the Line Indian Motorcycle of 1915!
