Overview

This is a 1934 Harley Davidson VLD owned since 1971 by the same family in Iowa. Whit Hemingway was a famous Harley rider before the war (WWII) and he rode a bike just like this one. He is pictured in the Harley Newsletter in 1946 in uniform riding for a commercial. In early 1971 he saw an ad for this bike in the newspaper and drove his new Chevy Biscayne to Kansas City to buy it. The bike was in pieces. The bike was brought to a trusted Harley Davidson builder and put back together and became Whit’s ride. This 1934 VLD has seen limited duty over the past 15 years and is stored in a garage in Iowa. Storage conditions are evident in the pictures. This bike has a clear Iowa Title and current registration.

Mileage: 19,303 mileage showing on the odometer

Paint: Paint is fair condition. Some nicks and scratches are evident and there is some flaking of the decals. Being of good original products it should clean up well.

Sheet Metal: Sheet metal is in great condition with a few minor dings. Sheetmetal is correct for the year and well fit.

Tires and Rims:
Rims are painted Steel with Stainless steel spokes and nipples.
Front Tire is Coker 400 X 19 new
Rear Tire is Coker 400 X 19

Mechanical: This was a great running machine when put away about 2001. It was put away because of the owner’s health, He was a great rider and tuner, and his machines were always running and road worthy. His last big ride was the Durango Colorado DJ Road run in 1980(?). This was my first ride on a vintage Harley, and I may have been the last to ride it! (Tim Graber)
