Overview
1965 Harley Davidson FLH PANHEAD
This FLH Harley Davidson is a used motorcycle that is factory original with matching belly numbers. It was repainted in 2002 by the current owner to freshen it back to original sheen. He is second owner and he was working as a Harley mechanic when he bought the bike. He scoped the motor and saw that it was scaring so he did a top end job at 30 over and made it his rider. The bike currently sports 49,904 miles on the odometer and it is believed that is total for the bike. This bike has many first year items including electric start, hard primary, 5 gallon gas tank, 12 volt and more. The bike is correct with all of the goodies available. The bike was stored in the shop for 7 years and it is time to move it to a new owner. This motorcycle has been cleaned, polished and tuned. It is road and show worthy. The motorcycle has an Idaho Title and current registration.
Harley Info: The 1965 Harley FLY was the last year of the Panhead motorcycle, so it is a mix of the new with a link to the “old Days”, and is among the most collectible of the Big Twins. Harley had been making Panheads for 18 years. Many people believe the 65 Panhead was the very best of the pans. In 1965 Harley went away from 6 volt systems & entered the modern age with the 12 volt power.
In 1965 Harley entered a new era. Not only was the 1965 Harley FLH a Big Twin with full suspension, Harley also addressed the foreign competition with the addition of an Electric Starter. As of 1965 anyone strong enough to balance an 800 pound motorcycle could ride one without fighting the 1200cc engine, although the kickstart remained should you prefer.
The FLH was Harley’s first truly modern touring bike, fully capable of taking the rider, passenger & luggage on very long journeys in comfort & style. The fuel tank was enlarged to an enormous five gallons capacity.
